Poplar Technologies Ltd (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the Poplar mobile application (the “App”).
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data when you use our App, visit our website, or otherwise connect with Poplar Technologies Ltd.
Visitors to our websites and using our apps
When someone visits www.poplarhq.com or www.poplar.app we use third party services, Google Analytics and Mixpanel, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site, and usage of the app. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google or Mixpanel to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website or using our apps.
People who subscribe to our newsletters
We use a third party provider, Mailchimp, to deliver newsletters. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter at any time.
People who use the Poplar app
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of personal data in accordance with this policy.
How do we collect your information?
We ask you to provide certain personal data when you download our App or sign up to our newsletters. These will include your name, contact information including e-mail and telephone number.
When you access the App by or through a mobile device, we may also collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use and other statistics.
How do we use your personal data?
We use your personal data to provide and improve the App. This includes administration, responding to communications from you and analysing your use of the App and gathering feedback to enable us to continually improve the App and your user experience.
With your permission and/or where permitted by law, we may also use your personal data for marketing purposes which may include contacting you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email or text message we send. We will not sell your personal data to third parties.
How and where do we store your information?
We only keep your Personal Information for as long as we need to in order to use it as described above, and/or for as long as we have your permission to keep it.
It is important to remember that the transmission of information via the internet may not be completely secure and that you are advised to take suitable precautions when transmitting to us information via the internet.

Do any third parties have access to your personal data?
We use a third party service, Twilio, to send SMS messages as part of the sign in process.
We may use the services of other companies in relation to our App but they will have access to your personal data only to perform tasks on our behalf and will not have access to your messages. They will be under a contractual obligation to keep your personal data secret.
We will disclose your personal data where required to do so by law or in accordance with an order of a court of competent jurisdiction, or if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement or to protect the security or integrity of our App.
Any dispute between us in relation to your data will be governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
How do I access my information/data?
The General Data Protection Regulation which applies from May 2018 gives you a number of rights in relation to personal data, as follows:
- The right to request a copy of your personal data that we store, free of charge.
- The right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by opting out at any time, if you have previously opted in.
- The right to request us to amend your personal data so that it is correct and complete or to delete your personal data.
- The right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at www.ico.org.uk if you think that we are not complying with our legal obligations in relation to your personal data in any way.
- The right to transfer of your personal data to another person in electronic format.
Will the app contain links to third party websites?
Our App may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. We use these third party links to support and enhance your experience of the App.
Do we collect personal information from children?
Our App is not made available to anyone under the age of 18.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under the age of 18 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
This Policy shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions and shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
